The Stoat: Hard Kombucha, Craft Beer In Granite Falls
With a population of about 5,000, Granite Falls is small by any definition. Its name evokes a sense of peace and tranquility, a fitting description of a little gateway town for many hikers, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts.
Granite Falls is a perfect gateway to the Mountain Loop Highway, but it’s also a fantastic spot to stop and spend the day. This is partially thanks to the opening of The Stoat, a gathering spot known for its hard kombucha, craft beer, and high-end non-alcoholic beverages. The Stoat would make a fantastic addition to any major city, but in this small town, it’s a little slice of paradise.
You’ll find The Stoat at 104 East Stanley Street in downtown Granite Falls, an area that is sadly often missed by drivers who are heading for the Mountain Loop Highway. Owner Adam Thomas would like to change that, which is why he opened the business last summer. It sits next to his wife’s yoga studio, a vibrant and welcoming heated space with year-round classes.
Adam keeps his coolers stocked with plenty of healthy hydrating and CBD-infused beverages for people to enjoy post-yoga or post-hike. At the same time, he likes to keep a good selection of craft beer on hand for those who imbibe. He’s best known for his selection of KYLA Hard Kombucha, a probiotic-filled beverage that offers a buzz with health benefits. KYLA is brewed in Hood River, Oregon, and it flies off the shelves at The Stoat.
While food is not currently served at The Stoat (other than a few packaged snacks), guests are encouraged to bring their own to enjoy with their beverages. Omega Pizza and Pasta and Playa Bonita are right up the street (and quite tasty) — and if you’re lucky, you’ll visit on a day when The Stoat is hosting a food truck. This isn’t an easy feat in such a small town, so it usually happens when there’s an event happening.
Much like the business itself, events at The Stoat are seasonal, and they’re extremely enticing. From murder mystery dinners to trivia nights and live music, you’ll find a little bit of everything on the calendar. Summer Saturdays often mean Cars n’ Coffee is happening, a weekly meetup offering the chance to admire some beautiful cars over coffee (or any other preferred beverage). Guests are also welcome to rent out the space, which is perfectly sized for a mid-sized gathering, for private parties and events.
The Stoat is a wonderful addition to Granite Falls, and it’s worth making the drive from whatever part of Snohomish County you call home to enjoy. While you’re in town, try to get the full local experience by taking a yoga class at the adjacent Wildwood Yoga Studio or checking out some of the local shops, like Rustic Redemption.
If you’re able to spend a night or two here, cruise up the highway and enjoy some laid-back glamping at Paca Pride Guest Ranch. David and his partner will roll out the red carpet, offering up-close-and-personal encounters with adorable alpacas and busy chickens and overnight accommodations in guest yurts.
