The Big Mountlake Terrace Weekend
Sometimes all the things happen at once! It's going to be a big weekend coming up in Mountlake Terrace this September.
Mountlake Terrace has 3 very different events all taking place at separate times on Saturday, Sept 12. It’s a fun “spend the day in MLT” Saturday! All events are free and open to all ages. Folks can jump on the light rail and exit Van Ry Blvd to grab coffee and pastries at coffeehouse hotspot, Skog.
Let's take a closer look.
National Day of Service (morning) | 9-11AM @ Veteran’s Memorial Park / Civic Campus
Join MLT Parks for our annual fall "green-up" on September 12, from 9-11a.m. @ Veterans Memorial Park in Mountlake Terrace. Gardening and landscaping enthusiasts will help remove invasive plants (aka blackberry bushes) alongside our Recreation and Park Advisory Commission (RPAC) and the Neighborhood Parks Improvement Subcommittee (NPIS.) The work for volunteers involves trash pickup, light landscaping, and invasive plant removal. Folks should meet at the Civic Campus entrance to Veterans Memorial Park, at the picnic table located between the library and police station. *Free swim vouchers for all attendees; valid for recreational swim at the historic Recreation Pavilion, built in 1967.Every September in recognition of National Day of Service, our park commissions invite volunteers of all ages to join them for an easy park clean up event, rain or shine. The day’s mission is to transform the anniversary of 9/11 from a day of tragedy into a day of doing good, by keeping the spirit of unity and service alive through community volunteerism.
Wagfest (afternoon) 11AM-5PM Evergreen Playfield
Hosted by the MLT Chamber of Commerce in its inaugural year (2025), this year, local event org “Making Local” (founded by Sarah Frost, President of the Chamber) is running the show. Last year’s turnout was in the thousands! This one-and-only MLT pet festival, featuring pet-focused businesses, food and drink (for pups and humans!), handmade goods, training demonstrations, and more! All vendors are from the PNW so you can buy local from your neighbors in Mountlake Terrace, Bothell, Mill Creek, Seattle, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Shoreline, and all over the Puget Sound. All dogs are welcome! (on-leash please.)
Luminaria (evening) 7PM-9PM @ Lake Ballinger / Ballinger Park
This evening event at Ballinger Park was a huge hit in 2025, which was the first-ever illuminated walk around Lake Ballinger. Hundreds of LED lights are placed along the Ballinger trails inside paper “lantern” bags, decorated by local kids, illuminating the trails via candlelight. Ballinger Park features a lighted loop on the east side of the park for the community to enjoy a relaxing stroll at sunset with picturesque lake views. This is a free self-guided event. You may arrive any time after 7 p.m. and walk until 9 p.m. Plus, live music!
